1978 - My first full year in the glass tinting industry. 

Grease and Star wars are at the cinemas and with cords, desert boots and miller shirt I install the limited range early versions of todays advanced glass solar films. The glue was mixed on site, and the films were easily scratched.

Fast forward to today, and the highly efficient adhesives and tough scratch resistant coatings are bonded to the films at the manufacturing plant at Boston USA, along with the metals copper,aluminium or nickel.

In 2008 the ceramic films are released with the same technology as the tiles used in the space shuttle, letting more light in with the same heat rejection. Most solar films are now star rated so can be used to upgrade the star energy ratings for homes and offices.

The future?... films that go darker in the sun (photochromic!).
